Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

1. What this covers

This policy describes what the Discord Chess bot and the discordchess.com website (the "Service") collect, why, and what happens to it. The short version: the Service stores only what the chess features need, uses it only to run those features, and never sells or shares it.

2. What is collected

When chat-move listening is turned on, the bot reads messages in that channel only to recognize chess moves; message text is not stored - only the resulting move. The Service never collects passwords, email addresses, or payment information.

3. How it is used

Stored data exists solely to operate the Service: keeping games playable across restarts, showing boards and records, enforcing game rules, and serving the web boards and reviews. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or training, and it is not sold or shared with third parties. Data moves through Discord's API subject to Discord's own privacy policy.

4. Where it lives and how long

Data is stored in a database on a server operated by the Service's maintainer and is retained so match history and records keep working. Engine analyses expire automatically after a day. Web link sessions expire an hour after first open.

5. Your choices

6. Children

The Service is only for people who meet Discord's minimum age requirements in their region, and it does not knowingly collect data from anyone below them.

7. Contact and changes

Questions and deletion requests: reach the operator via GitHub at @malmgrens4. This policy may be updated from time to time; the date above reflects the current version.
